The Union Review

Words from the Publisher Dr. LaDonna Boyd

Welcome to the spring edition of the Union Review!

The power of the Black Press and its impact on African-American lives are undeniable. Historically, the mainstream media could not be counted on for accurate representations of events impacting black lives. Thus, newspapers such as The Nashville Globe and The Union Review were established as trusted news sources for our community.

Today, the responsibility of black media remains the same: to be voices of truth, authenticity, and integrity. This is why R.H. Boyd continues in the tradition of our founder and my great-great-grandfather, Rev. Dr. Richard Henry Boyd. Our team upholds our responsibility to provide high-quality services and curate a broad spectrum of products to fit the unique needs of our readers.

With this in mind, we were pleased to participate in this year’s Committee on Uniform Series sessions in Louisville, Ky., to stay abreast of methodologies in curriculum development and biblical study. We utilize this lesson series in our best-selling curriculum titles.

Additionally, I had the opportunity to attend the impressive London Book Fair and ECPA’s European Christian Rights Fair in London, England, and Kraków, Poland, respectively. The global stage of publishing and content creation is truly thriving.

It is our goal to remain engaged with our various audiences in broad communities, and we were also pleased to participate in the Baptist Joint Session in Memphis, Tenn., in late January. This collective event recognized the impact of four major Black Baptist conventions and their implications on today’s culture, covering topics ranging from finances to social justice, politics, education, and more.

Educational achievement has always been very important to our organization throughout the generations. Our third annual Legacy Ball, in support of the R.H. Boyd Family Endowment Fund, is quickly approaching. Please consider joining us on June 22, 2024, in Nashville, at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

Through this charitable pursuit, we support students in achieving their dreams of higher education as well as giving grants to nonprofit organizations serving their communities in impactful ways.
